Universal Desk Privacy Policy
At the Universal Desk, we understand that the privacy of your information and your documents is of the utmost importance.
Our principles:
1. We treat your information as carefully as we do our own.
2. We understand you are entrusting us with your writing, and we keep every document confidential.
3. We respect your privacy choices and collect only the information we need to edit your document.
Your Information — When you order from Universal Desk, we ask for your name and your email address, which we use to process your payment and deliver your edited document to you. We will never rent, sent or lend this information to anyone. We may send you occasional updates on our service or send you promotional offers for Universal Desk, but will never send out offers on behalf of other companies. Every such e-mail sent out will have a conspicuous opt-out link. Or you can write us at editor@theuniversaldesk.com.
When you pay for a document to be edited, your credit card information is collected through a secure payment page and the information is sent to our payment processor, Authorize.net, one of the internet’s leading credit card processors. They only use the information to process your order. In keeping with best security practices, your credit card information and your address are never stored on our servers.
Your Documents – Your document is stored securely on our servers so that we can edit it. We keep a copy of your original document, our edited version and any comments on our server for six months, for auditing purposes and in case you need it re-sent to you. After that, the document and the edits and any instructions you provided are erased.
As a necessary course of business your document is provided to one or more editors whose sole use of the document is to perform the contracted services. Ours editors are vetted and all must agree to a code of confidentiality. Editors delete documents on a regular basis and certify this to management.
All rights to the submitted document and the Company edit belong to you, and we will never reproduce, in whole or in part, your document without your express, written consent.
Your Feedback – If you provide feedback on an edit, we may use it in whole, or in part, as customer testimonial in promotional materials or on the web site. We attribute feedback using only a client’s first name and the last initial (e.g. Steve J.), unless permission is granted to use a client’s full name or organizational association. If you prefer your feedback not be published or not attributed in this way, you can do so by e-mailing the company at editor@theuniversaldesk.com.
